Between the ages of 11 and 18, young people change from the children that start secondary school to the young adults that leave at 18. While for many, they are able to navigate this transition and the trials and tribulations of life at senior school, there are a number of young people who require extra support, either because of circumstances in their lives, academic challenges, SEN, or behavioural issues.

At New Way Tuition, we have a wealth of experience and a long history of working with young people, and their teachers and providers, at this critical stage of their lives. We understand the challenges that secondary schools face and understand that accessing external support can be an issue of last resort. We’re here to change that mindset in schools. We are building long-lasting professional relationships with schools across Essex who recognise that we are able to support young people in their care with additional support. Increasingly, they bring us in early on to support interventions they are deploying within the school setting to enhance what they are already achieving.

We do not believe that one size fits all and we take time to listen and learn from the professionals close to their young people – and the young people themselves – to create interventions that will address the specific issues an individual young person is dealing with. We find that by unpicking their situation piece by piece, we are able to better understand the fundamental things that are preventing them learning in a mainstream setting. Where young people have SEN, they often also suffer with low self-esteem and anxiety. They may struggle with friends and so we will often offer parallel tracks of social skills and self-esteem programmes, alongside the academic support that is required

On the academic side, where a young person requires additional academic support for their GCSEs, A Levels, we are able to provide motivated, highly capable tutors to support them to achieve their goals. We love working with young people and their educational settings to see each young person become themselves and begin to believe that they can reach their full potential
